We shot a course using scored targets, 2 stages with 5 events. It
reminds us why we usually use the "target neutralized / time = score" in
most matches!
We had three new guys shoot with us today, welcome to new members Mark
(13), Matt (18) and Blair ( I didn't ask) Stone. And hello to a "face
from the past", Dennis Paramore showed he has not forgotten which end
the bullets come out. Drew said he was not feeling well then came on
strong in the 2nd part of stage 2 and did some great shooting.
There was an interesting mix of weapons today. Although over half (9)
used 45 ACP, there were only five 1911 pistols used. That is quite
different from years past where everybody shot some type of 1911.
We saw a couple of guns go down. One to a self adjusting front sight and
one to a dislike of Wolf ammo.
The "Shoot, Move, Communicate" drill proved very challenging. It was
interesting to see that although shooters could choose their starting
point, target order and direction of travel, most guys opted to do what
seemed to be working for other shooters. I liked this drill, so don't be
surprised to see it pop up again.
Thanks to Thomas, Jessie, Daniel and (sorry I didn't get the name)
Jesse's friend, we got the steel gong up. It is a 14" circle at 430
yards, and is a challenge for iron sights. Steve Whidden did not let it
slow him down, it had not been up long before he initiated it with his
M1A super match! Thomas also got the 150 yard plate machine up. It
features six 6" X 8" plates.
OJ, Thomas, Glen T., Tommy and others showed up Saturday to help Dennis
tear out the clubhouse in preparation for it's rebuild.
Memberships have come in from Moultrie, Tifton, Bainbridge, and I talked
to some guys from Tallahassee the other day. Things are off to a great
start.
Match results for Sunday. 3 Feb 2008
Welcome to all the new members who came out today, some of them did not
shoot in the match. We had some brand new shooters and some guys we have
not seen in a decade or so.
I see a trend. We had 9 different weapon types represented today, a
long way from when everybody shot a single stack 1911.
16 shooters is a good number for Super Bowl Sunday. For a two stage
match with 4 segments there were some VERY close scores between several
shooters.

Hopefully by next month's match we will have the roads improved and the
bathrooms up and running. I do not think the overhead will be done by
this rifle match but should be up for March.
